How voltage dividers work
Formula:
Vout = Vin × (R2 ÷ (R1 + R2))
Common Uses:
- Bias voltage for transistors
- Reference voltage for comparators
- Signal attenuation

Important Notes:
- Unloaded calculations assume no current draw
- Connected loads will affect output voltage
- Higher resistances reduce power consumption
- Lower resistances reduce noise sensitivity
For accurate signal measurement, the impedance of a measuring device should be at least 10× higher than the output impedance of the divider.
